Friday Fight 42 - Purposeful or Practical?

Every Friday, when I wake and pray, God places something on my heart to help me fight darkness beginning in our minds. Today is FF42.

How often do we hear God speak to us and our first thought is, "I’ll seem crazy doing that." (Imagine how Noah must have felt!) But, in all seriousness, how often has God placed something on our hearts, and we genuinely feel that God is referring to something much further down the road?

Purposeful or Practical?

Too often, when God places something on our hearts, our minds can't comprehend it. God's purposeful timing is quite different from our practical timing. We can’t see ourselves being strong or equipped enough to execute what God is asking of us. But God does not call the equipped; He equips the called.

Allow me to share a personal story. Several years ago, I felt that God was calling me to an orphanage in Taiwan to pray with and anoint each orphan. My best friend adopted a daughter there a few years before.

At first, I was bombarded with questions…when, how, or where we would stay? I couldn't answer these questions; I just knew God asked me to go there with my best friend.

It wasn't practical to use all my leave or endure the expense of traveling to Asia for a group of orphans I didn’t know. Honestly, I was nervous. But it was important to God, so I made it a priority. After the first year, people often asked if God had changed His plan and just as everyone started to doubt, someone came to me with a large donation that covered most of my airfare! We were preparing, so when the time was right we were ready. Less than two years later, we traveled to Taiwan; God moved miraculously!

How does darkness operate? Being practically timed in our minds will never happen because darkness will always delay the "practicality”. No time will ever look favorable to us.

Sometimes, when we live out our God-given purpose, we will feel a little crazy. Try not to think about what is practical; Trust God. He knows what tomorrow will bring. Do not worry about what other people think; God knows your heart. If we want to see God move in multiple directions, we must first move.
