Friday Fight 5 - Perfect Procrastination

Every Friday, when I wake and pray, God places something on my heart to help me fight darkness beginning in our minds. Today is FF5.

How many of us receive unique ideas while praying, but time goes by, and these ideas still have not come to fruition? We have all experienced it. It could also be like a thought or concern for someone, but we never have an opportunity to pick up our phone. Why? This lesson is called Perfect Procrastination.

Suppose the Holy Spirit placed something on our hearts as part of God's will for our lives through prayer. We are excited, receptive, and planning our next steps and cover it in prayer. But, over the next few days, something begins to happen in our minds. Strategically there are a series of reasons why executing this plan would be more beneficial later. Suddenly our minds are repeatedly filled with excuses such as:

When I have more money
When I move
When the kids are grown
After we have kids
After I graduate
After I am married
When we have a bigger house
When I am financially stable

The list could be endless. What if God was asking you to forgive someone and you waited?

God places these incredible things on our hearts, but the motivation to wait until later is not of God. Imagine that after God places these life-changing things on our hearts, darkness whispers into our ears every reason why we should do it tomorrow. Then, the next day, the same whispers, and so on. Every day darkness tells us what a great idea this is while continually sharing all the reasons why later is better. If we are not careful, we could allow months or years to go by. Or worse, we could reach the end of our days and never walk in areas God had planned for our lives.

When God places a person, an idea, an adventure, or prompts you to forgive or apologize, please pray. Do not listen to all the excuses about why it would be better if you waited until tomorrow. Even if they seem fantastic, it is a trick! I hope this helps someone today.
