Friday Fight 13 - The Door of Defeat

Every Friday, when I wake and pray, God places something on my heart to help me fight darkness beginning in the mind. Today is FF13.

The Door of Defeat:

All of us have struggled with loneliness, rejection, depression, addiction, alienation, or inadequacy at some point in our lives. We are repeatedly hurting, have hurt others, carry unforgiveness or guilt because the goal of darkness is to steal, kill and destroy our joy. But how many of us have said, “I give up” when enduring these things?

For this lesson, imagine a hallway having three doors on right and three on the left, with one door at the end of the hallway; each entry represents a different struggle. In one season of our life, we may be slowly walking, while other times are crawling from one area of hurt to another. Over time, we may find ourselves at the end of what we can handle, like the end of this hallway. Imagine the door at the end is labeled DEFEAT. Maybe you lost years in a particular area and are praying to God for understanding. Unfortunately, you may not receive the desired answer, instead, pray to God for trust.

How can we fight? Now is the time to draw even closer to God and others. Through prayer, ask God to increase your faith and to reveal His plan for your life.

It is okay to feel defeated at times in one or two areas of your life; we all do. But we are never to surrender to DEFEAT itself. Darkness wants nothing more than for us to give up and walk through that last door, bringing us to an even darker place. Consider the order of the doors. The only reason we are ever positioned before this last door is because we are exhausted and, more than likely, on the floor. Darkness is purposefully targeting this type of exhaustion. Reflect on this when you feel like giving up; give God your struggles and rebuke the door labeled DEFEAT. Pray with someone or ask others for prayer. You do not have to share your situation; God already knows. The name of Jesus is above every struggle, and the blood of Jesus covers all.
