Friday Fight 9 - Stay in the Day
Every Friday, when I wake and pray, God places something on my heart to help me fight darkness beginning in our minds. Today is FF9.
We all experience times when we are going through the motions of life; we appear to be functioning normally but are shutting down, and unsure why. It's usually not apparent to others, but inside we feel the struggle, and so does God. This spiritual warfare tactic operates slowly and does so by scattering the mind. This tactic prevents us from experiencing the growth and healing God intends for us. I pray this lesson is helpful.
Stay in the Day:
I describe this warfare as feeling chaotically immobile. It is a result of being physically exhausted from restless nights, emotionally drained and unable to handle much, and spiritually tired as darkness slowly removes God from our focus.
How often have our thoughts been equally scattered between past mistakes or hurts and worrying about the future? Being "present" in a day can be challenging! Imagine these seemingly scattered thoughts as being an intentional, destructive plan.
Suppose most of our daily thoughts are being held captive by past hurts or abducted by future worries. Darkness uses this strategy to immobilize us chaotically, and we feel like a tornado is stirring in our minds.
After experiencing this "tornado" in our minds, we attempt to recover the lost moments but cannot figure out how. The more we try to understand, the more scattered our thoughts become. Finally, darkness attempts to bring us to a bad place, and more time is lost; we cannot do much more than the minimal requirements to survive.
This lesson is a way is to fight, stay in the day! When your thoughts move to the past (hurts) or future (worries), and the focus on God is slowly removed, shut this down with prayer and praise! Staying in the day will allow your time to be filled with an awareness of who God is and focus on consecutive moments in Him. Darkness wants to prevent this. Leave your past at the cross and give your future days to God. Remain in the day and find His peace!
