Friday Fight 10 - Generational Sin

Every Friday, when I wake and pray, God places something on my heart to help me fight darkness beginning in our minds. Today is FF10.

How many of us look at our lives particularly concerned with the negative patterns we have experienced or are experiencing? Through prayer, God reveals these negative patterns, "particular things" we do not want to repeat with present or future generations. It would help to imagine a staircase while reading this lesson.

Generational Sins:

A negative pattern could be anything from a bad habit to a characteristic when angry, or even something painfully endured but never addressed. All these negative things create heaviness in us that we carry and pass to the next generation if we are not carefully and prayerfully aware.

Maybe you promised yourself when you become a parent, you would never do this or that......or perhaps it was something you wanted to change. Yet, here we are carrying the weight of those things called generational sin.

All of us are either sinners or sinners saved by grace, and we all carry generational sin. So how does this work exactly? Darkness uses current sins to create patterns to control future generations through manipulation and lies.

Pray and ask God to show you the brokenness of your past (those things which devalued you as a child). Once you allow the Holy Spirit to reveal this past brokenness, take every thought captive, and pray against how this sin has controlled you. Then, apply God's truth and step off this stairway towards healing. To remove generational sin, you must allow God to show you the step above (devalue) and, through healing, add value to the step below. The longer a sin pattern continues, the more difficult it is to recognize it as being a sin. The longer a generational sin continues, the less effort is needed from darkness to control us using this particular pattern.

The current generation is most impactful- affecting all future generations! So please step up before the Lord and step off the patterns and sins of the past.
