Friday Fight 52 - Thanking or Thinking?
Every Friday, when I wake and pray, God places something on my heart to help me fight darkness beginning in our minds. Today is FF52.
How often do we ask others to pray to God for someone or something, all of us at some point, right? Perhaps we have been part of a gathering to pray collectively for a miracle: sickness, financial crises, deliverance, or anything else that threatens life as we know it. But then what happens?
Thanking or Thinking?
We are all on different journeys concerning our prayer life. Many of us have joined prayer gatherings or been blessed by being asked to consistently or collectively pray; it's incredible! I love when prayer is our first response. We humbly and consistently speak to God as unexpected circumstances shift lives from a mountaintop into the valley below.
So after God heals, moves, delivers, provides, etc., what happens to our mindset? Yes, we are joyful and thank God, but do we assemble and pray with the same intensity as when seeking Him? Instead of taking time to pray for thankfulness or even share with others, we often quickly thank Him and begin thinking about other things. Perhaps the answered prayers are so joyously overwhelming we are focused on it and not Him.
Prayer is our communication with God, but darkness will diminish that by shifting our prayers to supplication only. Imagine our child repeatedly asking us for something. Later, we lovingly go above and beyond their expectations but do not feel appreciated when receiving a quick thanks by text or no thanks but then being asked for something else.
We want to show God how much we love and appreciate Him. We serve a God of order who orders our lives, allowing us to walk in His spirit of power and love. No matter what, we can rest assured that God loves us, enabling us to love others. Let's be intentional about coming to God with the same humility and intensity of thanksgiving as when we pray to seek something from Him.
I thank God for every lesson He has placed on my heart to share, it’s been one year! Thank you all for walking in this ministry with me as you faithfully respond, encourage, and share each week. I truly appreciate it.
