Friday Fight 49 - Altering our Altars

Every Friday, when I wake and pray, God places something on my heart to help me fight darkness beginning in our minds. Today is FF49.

Do you ever reflect on your week and are surprised by the busyness of life, or the lack of things accomplished? It doesn't take long to see what is essential in our lives by looking at what consumes our time. Once we are aware, let's look at where we possibly need to make changes?

Altering our Altars:
It's simple to look back over our past few weeks and see where we spend most of our time. Then, when we schedule something new, our minds immediately go to the things we cannot disrupt. Do we avoid disrupting our nap time, gym time, game time, chill time, social media, or that show we rush home to binge-watch? Perhaps it's time spent avoiding everyone. If we're not careful or made aware, these can quickly become our habits, and then our altars. Maybe an altar in your life is a stock portfolio or large account balance constantly being checked or work hours that never end.

It's advantageous to be aware of a few things done each day outside of work, without fail and ask ourselves some self-reflective questions. Do those "essentials" have a spiritual component or involve loving or caring for others? Does darkness encourage us to waste this time without our realization?

What would it look like if we had to draw where most of our time is spent? Would we be surprised and need to alter those altars? What is it in our day that we cannot miss or refuse to go without doing?

This lesson aims to bring awareness to what we make our altars and if we need to reprioritize. Darkness wants to shift our focus from God to anything and everything NOT of God. The goal of Satan is to have us broken and alone by any means possible.

Take time to see if these are areas we prefer doing alone or with others. If they are things done alone, how much time are we spending isolated? God has given us our lives, families, churches, and people for us to walk alongside. So, let's make room in our lives to walk with Christ, pray with and for others, and include loving and caring for others in the busyness of our week.
