Friday Fight 48 - Assurances or Answers?
Every Friday, when I wake and pray, God places something on my heart to help me fight darkness beginning in our minds. Today is FF48.
God will often ask us to do something, but it’s difficult to be compliant without knowing where it will lead, so we wait. Likely for a while. Are the assurances of God’s promises sufficient for us to be obedient, or are we looking for something else?
Assurances or Answers?
God leads; we follow, then stop until we receive the answers we desire to move forward. Jesus commanded Peter to step out of the boat and walk towards Him at Peter’s request because he wanted answers. But Peter saw the wind and waves causing him to remove his focus from Christ. Peter wasted answers, but Christ offered him assurances. Peter doubted because he did not receive the answers in the manner he wanted. Christ promises to calm the storms in our lives, but we often miss what God is doing because we remove our focus. Fear shifts our focus away from Christ. Peter had Christ to focus on; all we need to do is look up when we feel surrounded.
I know it can be hard to put doubt and fear aside and obediently step out when it often makes no sense. But blessings follow obedience. In our compliance, God graciously continues to work in and through us. Never wanting us to remain complacent, He continues to lead us in areas that will increase our faith and grow us spiritually. This growth is sometimes uncomfortable or even painful, but the Holy Spirit is a gentleman and patiently waits for us to follow His lead.
Darkness works tirelessly, bombarding us with fear and doubt. The warfare noise in our minds is deafening, drowning out the voice of God without us even realizing it.
Having all the answers makes us feel secure, but it is nothing compared to the security we have in God and His promises. God will take care of us when we step out in faith; we must trust that He will.
