Friday Fight 46 - God's Fullness Over our Format

Cotton Candy Colored Sky over water with Pier.

Every Friday, when I wake and pray, God places something on my heart to help me fight darkness beginning in our minds. Today is FF46.

We have all experienced times when God grows us in ways we cannot see until much later. So often, growth can be painful. We would either put on the brakes or walk away altogether if we knew the result. Yet, this gracious growth allows God to use us in ways never imagined, reaching the fullness of what God has for us. But what if the format of what defines our perceived abilities gets in the way?

God's Fullness Over our Format:

When God stretches us further than we can comprehend, we are shocked and grateful. Maybe God has called us to another place or a different job, one that doesn't make sense to us now. Perhaps we’ve been led to serve in the church, or God wants to deliver us and allow us to experience forgiveness, or miraculous reconciliation. All things we never even considered possible. People have an unrecognized format of what we have allowed to define us, and it slowly becomes hard-wired into our brains. This format includes pain, failures, fears, and perceived abilities. When God asks us to do something vastly unfamiliar, our brain begins to format everything together, which usually doesn't align with what God asks. Is there a sizable, spiritual reset button? Imagine there is, and it's labeled OBEDIENCE.

The things that format our brains and contribute to our decision making, all culminate to areas not given to God. How much of God's fullness do we miss because we deny these damaged areas?

Darkness quickly operates when God speaks to our hearts. As soon as God asks something of us that will grow us spiritually and draw us closer to Him, lies of fear begin. Our leap of faith soon becomes the lies of failure.

Instead of focusing on what we think we can't do or denying the brokenness within ourselves, let's focus on God, who will always bring fullness to our lives. Over time, we can allow God to reformat us through faith and obedience. In doing so, we experience a new life. In our obedience, we will find joy, blessings, healing, growth, and freedom, God's incredible fullness for our lives.
