Friday Fight 19 - Come to The Lord Like a Child
Every Friday, when I wake and pray, God places something on my heart to help me fight darkness beginning in our minds. Today is FF19.
As parents, how many of us have experienced communication from our children only when they need something? Maybe someone in your life treats you like an option when you make them a priority. It’s unfortunate, but many of us go through times of hurt like this. This FF 19 is not a conviction; it is an analogy to bring awareness to help fight darkness beginning in the mind.
Come to The Lord Like a Child:
I have three adult children, ages 19 to 25. When they were younger, they embraced each day by sharing their excitement with love and affection. However, as they grew and worries and fears developed, they shared less and less with me. As their mom, I am always willing to help with whatever problem they face, but I can only do so when they communicate their concerns.
Some people draw closer to God when times are hard, then pull away when things get better. I cannot imagine my child only speaking to me in the winter months or when they are sick or need money? Yet, that is what we do when only speaking to God during hard times. When we grow and mature in Christ, our need should be continuous communication and growth.
How does darkness work? More than anything else, Satan works tirelessly to prevent prayer. He uses manipulation to make us busy, tired and overwhelmed, and in turn, we put prayer and time with God as our last priority.
How do we fight? Fight for your time with God; never stop communicating in prayer. Express when your heart is breaking and needs healing but also when you are thankful or feel joyful. Pray when asked by others. Posture your grateful mindset each morning and then pray again at night. Just as a child will bathe to rid the filth of the day, ask forgiveness to rid the filth of the soul. Then, like a child, come to the Lord; Satan wants to limit our prayers because he knows our prayers will limit him. Matthew 18:4
