Friday Fight 94 - The Balance Breakthrough

Every Friday, when I wake and pray, God places something on my heart to help me fight darkness beginning in our minds. Today is FF94.

Ever go through a series of days and feel like something is missing? Not necessarily an emptiness but like something is off balance. Our lives seem complete, and we find joy most of the time, yet we experience days when we can't shake how off we feel. This is not a balance of our schedule; it is a balance of our whole selves. So, what are we missing, and how do we build toward a breakthrough in our lives?

The Balance Breakthrough

To create balance, we need to safeguard our spiritual, physical, and emotional health by setting aside time for each. It sounds so cliché, but there is so much truth to it. A healthy balance is the space where these three areas overlap. Maybe you are reading this and smiling because you just scheduled your next therapy appointment or set aside time to walk with a friend (another form of therapy). Perhaps you have devoted more time to reading your Bible but haven't prioritized church, or you've unintentionally pulled away from the small group you were attending. I know this gives you a lot to think about but stay with me!

Many of us will set time aside for exercise - Once, a person rescheduled prayer time together only to ask me to hurry so they could attend their exercise class. Your life may be consumed by educational requirements, and things are intentionally off balance and unavoidable for a short time. Special circumstances aside, what do we hold important in our lives? Look at the time set aside for physical growth and see if that same amount of time is being set aside to spend with God. It isn't easy, I know. We get into a consistent grove of attending to our spiritual needs without considering our physical needs. Or we seek healing in our emotional lives but spend no time in the other two areas. So now what?

When we prioritize only one area, we can feel the shift. Still, we may not recognize it enough to formulate a balance breakthrough. So here's what we can do to help restore balance in our lives:

1. Begin by writing down the three areas and how much time each area consumes.

2. Give God thanks for each area; the blessing of having balance begins with thankfulness. Give thanks to God for the body He has given you, a sharp and creative mind, and the second Adam who came to take away the sins of the first Adam so we can experience eternal life.

3. Look for any deficiencies and begin building that blissful balance, that sweet middle ground where these three intersect.

Satan does not want us to experience balance in any way. Instead, he wants the opposite and is constantly working to isolate us. Destroying us includes a physical body plagued by addiction, a spiritual walk away from God, and minds filled with guilt, shame, and depression. All this leaves us broken and alone.

Let's take some time this week to look at the areas that allow us to have a blissful balance filled with the fullness of what God intends for us. Then, if already aware of the importance of this balance, look at ways to safeguard this sacred understanding. Continue striving for this healthy harmony and walk in fullness God intended for all of us.
