Friday Fight 59 - The Decision not to Decide

Every Friday, when I wake and pray, God places something on my heart to help me fight darkness beginning in our minds. Today is FF59.

We all face seasons of significant decision-making that impacts our lives and those around us. Maybe it's an opportunity to further our education, change careers, move to another state, or perhaps something relational? When these situations arise, what is our decision-making process? Do we look to our flesh to make decisions? Or do we look to God?

The Decision not to Decide:

We are all faced with daily decisions, some more impactful than others. This lesson isn't about a lack of decision-making due to procrastination or laziness but rather is meant to offer another perspective on our decision-making process.

What happens when we are faced with a decision that we are genuinely unsure what to do? What does our decision-making process look like? Some of us make decisions quickly to remove them from our minds; others weigh the pros and cons, paying close attention to every detail. Some are heavily influenced by financial or personal motives, like our time. Do we remember to pray and lift these tough decisions to God? Sometimes we need to decide not to decide; it seems easy but can be incredibly difficult to give up control to God. If you are in a place trying to make decisions that will significantly impact your life and are unsure what to do, don't do anything until you know what to do. Be still.

How does darkness scheme? Darkness wants us to feel rushed to make a decision; with Satan, everything comes with chaos and urgency. The goal is for us to make a rash decision that separates us from God's will. After a rushed decision is made, our minds will be flooded with lies and uncertainty that the decision we made was wrong.

We serve a God of order and timing. So, the next time we need to make a significant decision, rather than decide quickly, pray and be still. Then, when we don't know what to do, take a step back and let our only decision be to give everything to God and wait.
