Friday Fight 57 - Generational Prayer
Every Friday, when I wake and pray, God places something on my heart to help me fight darkness beginning in our minds. Today is FF57.
What do we imagine when we think of the fullness of our lives? Whatever that fullness includes, we all want it to remain, right? What does our family's inheritance have when we think about our family treasures passing down to future generations?
Generational Prayer:
We all work hard to ensure our family has the most fulfilling life possible. What are our thoughts when thinking about the most lasting treasure to permeate our family and those generations to come? Our fulfillment can include securing stocks or perhaps a vacation home for our grandchildren that are not here yet. Maybe it's nurturing the blessing of a talent you share with your child or teaching them financial responsibilities; these are all genuinely important. We all want our future families to have the best inheritance possible.
Suppose our family treasure is putting Christ at the center of our lives. We can work to see that our children have a car and a solid educational plan, and this is great. Still, there is another inheritance we can offer, one given through our prayer. A spiritual inheritance is praying for growth, health, and well-being. It is praying now for our family's fullness by covering our children, their children, and their grandchildren in prayer.
I believe strongly in generational prayer. Pray for your children, regardless of their age, and for those who will significantly impact their lives. Pray for their restoration, ability to forgive and generational blessings to flow in their future families.
I have been praying generationally for the past five years. I pray for my children, their future spouses, and their children. Even though I do not know who they will marry, they are already covered in prayer. My future family is sustained in prayer now and will be maintained in prayer later. Children learn best from watching their parent's actions; they will listen when you pray.
Praying this way shuts down how darkness can impact future generations. Prayer can remove generational sins and curses while exposing areas hidden in the family line. Chains of evil are broken, freeing the souls of our future families. Satan would prefer to pull generations further and further into sin, not covering them in prayer.
A spiritual inheritance built through prayer is the most we can do, not the least we can do. It can mean a child is born in a seemingly infertile womb or the difference between life and death after an accident or illness. Praying for the fullness of a family before they arrive can mean a family member finds the healing waters among the valley instead of spending years in darkness. The possibilities are endless with God. Generational prayer is the most significant difference-maker in our lives and the lives of those to come.
