Friday Fight 240: Sweet Wisdom - Tasting the Honey of the Holy Spirit

Every Friday morning, during my quiet time with the Lord, He faithfully places something on my heart that speaks to the subtle, internal battles many of us face. This week is FF 240.

All of us face moments when life feels unclear and every decision weighs heavily on our hearts. In quiet seasons, our heart instinctively reaches for guidance, for something to anchor us. We pray, seek advice from trusted voices, and read Scripture looking for direction. Yet even with our best intentions, true wisdom can still feel distant, just out of reach.

Sweet Wisdom: Tasting the Honey of the Holy Spirit

When we think of wisdom, we might picture intelligence, cleverness, or knowledge, but true Godly wisdom isn’t intellect, it's intimacy. It is the Holy Spirit’s gift, slowly cultivated as we walk with Him. Wisdom is not found in degrees, eloquence, or the ability to quote Scripture. It’s the spiritual understanding that grows from trusting and depending on God. This dependency shifts our mindset. As we pray, praise, and obey, our perspective changes, and we begin to experience God directly. The wisdom He gives, illuminates truth in every season, even the difficult ones.

Think of it as an analogy with honey. Eating honey directly from honeycomb means tasting sweetness straight from the source; pure, rich, and untouched by contamination. In the same way, following the Holy Spirit keeps our hearts pure, free from the bitterness and judgment that darken our spiritual senses. The Spirit of Truth leads us toward mercy, grace, and forgiveness.

When we open our hearts to His leading, we begin to reflect Christ's gentleness, clarity, and love. The sweetness of Jesus flows through the Spirit’s guidance, renewing what has been hardened and bringing light where bitterness once lived.

The enemy is always seeking to distract, confuse, and distort the voice of God. That’s why we must guard our connection to the Spirit and stay sensitive to His prompting. Through prayer and community, we can recognize and resist any contamination of the heart.

Wisdom is not a sudden revelation; it is a slow, sacred process of spiritual growth and surrender. Like honey forming drop by drop, it’s created in stillness, patience, and trust. This is why Scripture compares wisdom to honey. Just as honey nourishes the body with sweetness and strength, divine wisdom nourishes the soul with peace and purpose. God invites us to taste His truth, to experience the goodness that flows from a heart aligned with His Spirit. Proverbs 24:13-14 says, “My child, eat honey, for it is good, and the honeycomb is sweet to the taste. In the same way, wisdom is sweet to your soul. If you find it, you will have a bright future, and your hopes will not be cut short.” As you reflect on this truth, invite the Holy Spirit to guide your steps each day. Taste His wisdom, let it strengthen your heart, and trust that the sweetness of His presence will shape every decision, illuminate every choice, and fill your soul with hope that cannot be shaken.

This week, pray and seek His sweetness in every moment. Let’s guard our relationship with the Holy Spirit, tasting the goodness of His presence in every decision, every word, every day.
