Friday Fight 239: When You Feel Like Giving Up, Welcome in Victory
Every Friday morning, during my quiet time with the Lord, He faithfully places something on my heart that speaks to the subtle, internal battles many of us face. Today’s invitation to trust is Friday Fight 239.
All of us have experienced moments that felt heavy, times marked by loneliness, rejection, depression, addiction, alienation, or inadequacy. None of us are untouched by hurt, and many of us carry around experiences that become more painful this time of year. Always remember that the goal of darkness is to steal, kill, and destroy our joy. There are times when life becomes so overwhelming that we wonder how much more we can carry.
When You Feel Like Giving Up, Welcome in Victory:
For this lesson, imagine a hallway lined with six doors, three on each side, and one final door at the end. Each door represents a struggle: disappointment, fear, temptation, or addiction, whatever you have endured. In some seasons, we walk slowly through this hallway, and in others, it feels as though we crawl from one wound to another. Over time, we may find ourselves at the very end of what we can handle, staring at a door labeled DEFEAT.
In difficult seasons, sometimes God doesn’t give the explanation we want, but He offers something deeper: a gentle invitation to trust Him more fully. This is the time to draw even closer to God. Through prayer, ask Him to increase your faith and reveal His plan in every season. Wanting to give up doesn’t mean we’ve failed; it is often the moment where God steps in, like a spiritual alarm, calling us to rest in His strength. He meets us at the door of our defeat and shows us another way through. Revelation 3:8 reminds us of His faithfulness: “I know all the things you do, and I have opened a door for you that no one can close. You have little strength, yet you obeyed my word and did not deny me.”
It’s okay to feel defeated in an area of life; However, we are never meant to surrender to DEFEAT itself. Darkness longs for us to give up and walk through that final door, pulling us into deep despair and endless suffering. But remember this: standing at that door doesn’t mean you chose failure, only that you’ve reached the end of your own strength. And that is exactly where God meets you. Do not claim to give up; instead, give it to God.
God knows our hallways are long and the doors are heavy. When things become too heavy, pause and reflect. Hand your struggles to God and rebuke the door marked DEFEAT. Pray with someone or ask others to stand with you in prayer. You don’t need to have the right words or full explanations; God already knows your heart. The name of Jesus is above every struggle, and His blood covers all. Praise God for being the steady light that breaks through every dark hallway. Pray and repent for allowing discouragement to whisper louder than His truth. Ask God to remind you that His hand is leading us to another door, the one marked VICTORY. Let the name of Jesus echo through every hallway of your life!
