Friday Fight 226: Not Just Another Day
Every Friday, when I wake and pray, God places something on my heart to help fight darkness beginning in our minds. Today is FF226.
How often do we approach the coming week as something to endure rather than embrace? We may drift through the days simply passing time while waiting for a specific event or walking through a season where most days feel boring, burdensome, or of little significance. What if we shifted our perspective? What if we saw each day as moments that matter, knowing God does not create meaningless days? If we truly believed that today was our only chance to change someone's eternity, would we carry ourselves differently?
Not Just Another Day:
For many of us, specific days come with designated expectations. Our calendar includes work, appointments, church, exercise, chores, and various other tasks. Each day is allocated, even if we decide to have a "me" day of self-care or do nothing at all. Yet even on the most ordinary day, there are divine appointments. God never creates a purposeless day, yet we tend to llive as though He has.
All of us are guilty of wasting time, but let's take this a step further and examine the mindset that accompanies our 24-hour cycle, which we call today. Each day is a handcrafted, purpose-filled gift that will never occur again. Today, the next hour with people, conversations, and even seemingly mundane interactions are divine appointments specially designed by the Lord for His glory and our growth. God has entrusted us with the gift of each day, not to be limited by fear, but to persevere in faith. There is purpose in the present. While we may live as if days are ordinary, God's Word says otherwise. Lamentations 3:22-23 says, "The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness."
When we view each day as a gift, our hearts are open to receive what God wants to do through us. We may never see the outcome, but that doesn't change how God uses us to plant seeds that could impact the course of someone's life. What if, instead of a mundane Monday, we recognized that God has planted us in each day to use the opportunities and circumstances to bring glory to His name?
God places us in each day and uses us to plant seeds in others. Knowing each day is filled with potential, we begin to see our calendars, community, and even the things that interrupt our schedules as part of a bigger picture. Each day holds a new purpose in moments that will never come again. We are given another opportunity to be delivered from bondage, to know God deeper, and to walk in His will. Today is not a recycled version of yesterday or adding to our to-do list; it is a fresh opportunity to extend God's truth.
As Christians, God uses us in situations where we encounter people in emotional, physical, or spiritual distress. What if today is the only day that someone's heart is open to receive healing, find freedom in their brokenness, or hear the truth? As God's First Responders, we must be ready to recognize that moment as an opportunity to respond with love and intention.
Try to imagine each day as someone's only chance to encounter God through us. Pray about this post and ask the Holy Spirit for reminders of being aware, available, and obedient in seeking a God-given moment to bring encouragement, a word of hope, or a prayer. Today is not just another random day; it is a new mercy, rich with purpose, waiting for our response.
