Friday Fight 210: His Protection - Our Projection = His Provision
Every Friday, when I wake and pray, God places something on my heart to help fight darkness beginning in our minds. Today is FF210.
What comes to mind when we imagine God protecting us in moments that leave us filled with fear or overwhelmed with gratefulness? Perhaps it's a terrible auto accident that we walked away from with nothing more than sore muscles and a few scratches or a seemingly irrelevant illness that brought light to another area of our body that needed quick medical attention. Our God is omnipresent, and His loving grace continually covers us. Does this mean bad things will never happen to us? Certainly not. But when they occur, we can rest in our Savior's arms, knowing He will never leave us.
Situations often unfold very purposefully, yet when we project ourselves into circumstances God has ordained for our protection, our influences can impact His provision. So, how do we unpack this, and how does our projection interfere with our spiritual walk?
His Protection – Our Projection = His Provision
God is all-knowing and all-powerful, so understanding Him to anything but a small degree is impossible. God's mercy covers us so graciously that we only know a slight portion of His vast greatness. Often, when we insert ourselves into His plan, we project into His protection and end up outside of His will in an effort to understand. We rob ourselves of His provisions and blessings by inserting our thoughts from a lens that only sees one skewed angle.
Consider the irritating car troubles. It is difficult to imagine the flat tire that left us on the side of the road could be God's protection; in fact, many would immediately blame Satan and his attacks. However, all we can perceive is what we see and the irritation of what that flat tire is doing to the day's schedule. God now uses this time to keep us still, and we have no idea why. How about those who have suddenly taken an alternate route to a familiar destination that makes no sense, but this heavy feeling in our heart dictates our adjusted course? God knows what is on the other side of every moment, every day, and every situation. God could have used the flat tire to slow down the person passing by who was not paying enough attention to the road. Only He knows.
I flew to Canada with Pastor Adam a few weeks ago because God placed this on my heart. I didn't know the people I would be sharing with and encouraging because I have no clue what tomorrow will bring, but God does. The abnormal part was that I quietly looked for reasons not to go and areas of my life that would be impacted, including leave, outstanding homework, finances, flights, and even my health. Yet when I diligently prayed, I recognized that God had taken care of every detail; I acknowledged I was projecting things into God's plan for my life. Why was I projecting? I did not fully understand why I was going, but I continuously felt I was supposed to go. We don’t need to understand, we need to be obedient.
Remaining home would place me outside God's will, with my apprehension opening the door.
God wanted me in Canada. By removing my inability to understand, I saw God's provision in every area of my life. I was protected; it was exactly how God revealed it and so much more.
Isaiah 41:10 says, “Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”
God knows all things beyond anything we can comprehend, and while not everything that happens is God-ordained, that doesn’t mean He won’t use it for good. So the next time you are questioning the why and the how, turn toward Him, and take yourself out of the situation, and ask God to show you the way, the reason, or in what direction He wants you to move. Be blessed knowing God is with you and for you all the time.
