Friday Fight 104: Assignment Alignment
Every Friday, when I wake and pray, God places something on my heart to help me fight darkness beginning in our minds. Today is FF104.
All of us have a to-do list that varies in length. I have a few and thoroughly enjoy crossing things off as I go. On the other hand, some of us have multiple lists, each categorized differently. Regardless of which list type we refer to, we rearrange their importance based on life's circumstances, resources, or time required to achieve them. We shift and delete from our lists all the time. But our Creator has things planned for us to do before our birth. So, are we adjusting stuff on God's agenda for us like we shift our own?
Assignment Alignment:
We all have different methods for completing tasks, agendas, or assignments. Our to-do lists or plans can include things for survival or to add value to our emotional well-being, physical health, or spiritual walk. But, unfortunately, life happens, and our precisely planned day unexpectedly shifts quickly or frustratingly as we reorganize levels of importance. Yet we continue to rewrite our plans.
But what about the to-do list or agenda God has for us? Looking back on these items, do we even remember why we ever shifted them? Even though we were created with assignments God designed us to do, we often act like we have to set aside this large block of time to do it, maybe in some cases, yes. But let's be aware of the smaller agendas God orchestrates, like connecting with an old friend, providing lunch, or stopping in the middle of our day to experience joy. God designs these things for the well-being of others, and we inadvertently moved them further down the list.
Let this bring awareness to other times our God list was unknowingly or even willingly shifted to a position of lower priority given the periods of chaos in life. Only God knows our tomorrow, so whose life is impacted by our reprioritization? Maybe we are afraid of what He is asking us to do. Perhaps we pretend we don't hear Him or allow other things to dictate and consume God's plans for that day, week, or season. But, if God is asking, He will provide the resources and give us the ability to complete whatever it is, then bless accordingly.
To help with our assignment alignment, we need to be aligned with God's will, beginning with prayer. Next, make a “God List” revealed at some point, including things that made little sense at the time. It could be forgiving someone, implementing something new into your family, or whatever God revealed. After completing this list, place one or two words next to each item, indicating why its priority changed. As God reveals plans for our lives, Satan works tirelessly to move, block, or stop it altogether. He uses our sins to exploit our weaknesses in attempts to alter God's plans.
So now what? With this better understanding, through prayer, we repent for not prioritizing what God revealed to our hearts. Then ask forgiveness for applying our timetable of clarity over His perfect timing—finally, petition God's grace in the spiritual alignment of His assignments. Look at the reasons for not completing each one and speak against them in the name of Jesus.
Ephesians 2:10 ESV "For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them."
