Friday Fight 212: The Journey of Blessings - A Call to Share and Serve

Every Friday, when I wake and pray, God places something on my heart to help fight darkness beginning in our minds. Today is FF212.

When we think of being blessed, what immediately comes to mind? How many of us have felt prompted by God to bless someone, but we hesitated? There are many ways blessings can come into our lives, and the meaning of a blessing often depends on who is giving or receiving it.

The Journey of Blessings: A Call to Share and Serve

Too often, we think of blessings as purely tangible or frequently monetary, but they can be so much more. Remember a few years ago, when paying it forward in a fast food line became popular? For many, those simple gestures were indeed blessings—small, unexpected acts of kindness that made a difference. However, gifts from God are not just material; they can be relational, emotional, or spiritual. Receiving God's blessings does not guarantee an unchallenging life; blessings are not always easy to recognize. However, some of the most significant spiritual growth we can endure begins in situations we initially view as hardships. If you have battled addiction and won, been accused and persevered, or found yourself in the most desolate of times and climbed your way out through Christ, your experience can become a blessing to others.

Here are some truths. God's blessings are not scarce. They are abundant and unconditional, not meant to stop with us but to flow through us. When God places something on our hearts to share with others, we cannot pull back or have a mindset that we have "done enough." Doing so may limit what God desires to accomplish through us. Whenever He blesses us, He equips us to bless others, even if we cannot see it at the time or it makes no sense.

Sometimes we can get caught up in tangible blessings, like a free meal passed out to a line of people. If someone next to us seems abundantly blessed, it does not mean we will go without. God's blessings are abundant, limitless, and rooted in His steadfast love. They are not trophies to be hoarded or displayed; they are tools that come with a responsibility. They are meant to be used to serve others, to spread love and kindness, and to glorify God through our actions. We are all given gifts; some may be amazing organizers, cleaners, financial planners, or cooks. Whatever the gift, it is essential—and it is meant to be used and shared. Think of the young mother overwhelmed with children, how blessed she would feel if someone cleaned her house, took the kids for a couple of hours, or cooked a meal that she didn't have to prepare. These are just small examples of how your strengths can be a blessing to someone else.

Christ modeled a life of giving and service. There is strength and responsibility in recognizing and sharing a blessing, big or small. Matthew 5:16 says, "In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven." When we receive something from God, let's ask ourselves, "How can I use what I have graciously received to serve someone else?" It may be our time, a word of encouragement, a financial blessing that turns into meals for someone else, an electric bill paid, or a friendship that allows freedom without judgment. Ultimately, our blessing flows through us to become someone else's answered prayers, transforming lives and shining God's light in the world.

Let's take time to embrace our blessings as opportunities to shine God's light and transform lives, knowing that through us, His love and grace can reach far beyond our capabilities or understanding.
